The Edo State Flood, Erosion, and Watershed Management Agency (Edo FEWMA) was established as the State’s principal agency for climate change mitigation, flood and erosion control, catchment and watershed management, and other environmental challenges.
The Agency was Established with the mandate to mitigate the adverse effects of floods, erosion, and environmental degradation, EDOFEWMA operates under the guidance of the Edo State Government. We are committed to safeguarding lives, property, and the environment through proactive measures and sustainable solutions.
The intervention of the NEWMAP project provided an excellent opportunity for the Edo State government to form an agency to sustain the gains of intervention in degraded regions and assure continuity in addressing flood and erosion challenges in the State after the project in June 2022.
Our vision is to have a resilient and sustainable environment in Edo State, where communities thrive in harmony with nature, free from the devastating effects of floods and erosion. We want to build an Integrated Flood Management system that is aimed at reducing degraded land in Edo State.
